American Werewolves, in Oregon!

Here's a follow up event we at the Society to Save Endangered Species are pushing for with the fall season. Here's the gist of it-more info will follow as the event planning comes to a close.

For the first time ever, these thought to be mythical creatures will be studied and catalogued rather than be shot at with silver bullets. But rest assured-there will be silver bullets ready on site.
10/5/2009 – Eugene, Oregon Fred Smilek and the Society to Save Endangered Species are eagerly waiting for the Halloween season, as they race to prepare for their latest event. The following* is a story from Mr. Smilek of what spurred this idea to existence...
As I was preparing for the upcoming holiday season, I was going through some old wooden chests that have been passed down for generations in my family. What you may not know about me is that Smilek is an American name that was given to my forefathers from the name Van Helsing when they arrived on Ellis Island. I began to read through the old journals as a spark of curiosity told me to question the myth of vampires and werewolves. I told myself, “You know they aren’t real.” But as I continued to read, I found myself questioning that belief. Having read all of my families ancient journals, I can definitively say that I am a well versed Lycanthropist-a researcher of Werewolves! It is of utmost importance now that I must find these creatures of the night and learn more about them with the help of the Society to Save Endangered Species!
“Fred Smilek and the Society to Save Endangered Species need your help as they search for Werewolves in their community! Bring your detective skills and be ready to spot clues and sightings of Werewolf activity, as well as learn about their cousins, the Grey Wolf!”
As preparations continue for the first ever “Werewolf Search,” Mr. Smilek wishes to make sure that a valuable lesson is portrayed about the current ongoing dispute of the Grey Wolf Hunt in Idaho and Montana. Information will be made available, for both sides of the argument (to hunt or to list as endangered) as the Society to Save Endangered Species wants participants to realize how important this dispute is and to make sure they stand up for animal rights.
While the event is seeking to be a fun, educational outing, the final verdict on how family oriented it will be is still being considered as the use of Werewolves (high quality costumes) may be implemented which may frighten young children. For all of the latest updates, visit www.fredjsmilek.com.

*The above mentioned story is entirely fictional and was written by Fred Smilek as a fun “plot” for the event theme.
